The only time the “winner” has come forward has been to sue the California Lottery for the expired winning ticket. A man in California claims that he bought the winning $63 million SuperLotto Plus ticket in Chatsworth. The man is now suing the lottery to declare him as the winner and give him his prize. Lottery officials are still on the hunt for the winner before the ticket expires.
This winning ticket in question was bought for the 8th of August at a 7-Eleven store situated at 20871 Lassen Street. Whoever has decided to come forward only now to claim their prize, has done so only after a whopping 180 days.
The ticket supposedly matched all of the following winning numbers:
1-16-30-33-46 and the Mega number 24.
If nobody comes forward soon, the $63 million cash winnings will be forfeited and split between California public schools. On the other hand, a Los Angeles County man said that the winning ticket has already been handed over to lottery officials who have rejected it as it is too damaged to be reconstructed or made any sense out of.
Papers were filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, whereby plaintiff Brandy Milliner had submitted the winning SuperLotto Plus ticket to lottery officials and even received his congratulatory letter! This man is now asking the judge to declare him as the winner of this massive jackpot.
After the California Lottery amps up its public outreach efforts to find the owner of the winning ticket, the lawsuit came in. Lottery officials have made it explicitly clear that the winning ticket hasn’t been claimed yet.
“The last-minute timing of this is suspicious,” said lottery spokesman Russ Lopez. “I am not saying it’s a fake claim, not real, I’m just saying it’s a little suspicious,” he added.
In the lawsuit taken up by Brandy Milliner, he claims he presented the ticket to the California State Lottery Commission within the allocated time frame. He said that the commission received the ticket, and sent him a congratulatory letter notifying him that he would get his winnings in six weeks.
He also added that although they told him his ticket was too damaged to be reconstructed and verified, they refused to return the ticket to him despite how hard he tried. He says that they destroyed the ticket to keep the money, which is why he can’t get it back.
There is an ongoing investigation by a team of law enforcement officials to any person who claims to have the winning ticket. The win will only be secured after the investigation proves the ticket holder is the lawful winner.
